The spectrum of sleep disorder encompasses predominantly three main problems (1) Insomnia (2) Hypersomnia (3) Parasomnia.

These conditions are very predominant in the population but they are under diagnosed partly due to lack of awareness about them and their possible available therapies or due lack of specialised clinics addressing these problems.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder where the person finds it difficult to sleep. It could be either due to a delay in sleep initiation, sleep maintenance or due to early morning awakening.

Hypersomnia is a condition where there is excessive sleepiness especially day time sleepiness. This could be due to shortened sleep latency or due to poor night quality of sleep for example severe snoring with obstructive sleep apnoea.

Parasomnia are sleep problems arising due to abnormal transition from one phase of the sleep to the other. They are mostly seen in children and adolescent age groups. Sleep walking, sleep talking, night mares are some examples.

All the above mentioned conditions should be properly diagnosed and treated In our sleep clinic neurologists with experience in sleep disorders shall interview you and then make a proper diagnosis. Subsequently you may be asked to some specialised investigations like polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency test etc.

Therapies depend on the condition and varies from medication to CPAP/BIPAP therapies
